The face lift is probably the most-performed cosmetic surgery. It is the oldest of cosmetic surgeries as well. The first face lifts were performed in the early 1900s. For all cosmetic surgeries along with face lifts, just like with all else, if there is an upside, there is all the time a corresponding downside.
It isn't hard to see the upside of a face lift. The course erases years from our appearance. In the beginning, face lifts went only "skin deep," so to speak. The skin was naturally cut at the hair line and pulled back, and the excess skin was removed. The question with this course was that the effects were short-lived. Skin-only face lifts are not often done today.
In the 1970s, plastic surgeons realized that lifting the muscles and tissues in the face was just as leading as lifting the skin, and that the rejuvenating effects lasted much longer. There are discrete versions and techniques used by dissimilar plastic surgeons that do face lifts, but the objective is all the time the same - make the outpatient look younger. The degree of success depends on at least two factors - the basic bone buildings and the thickness of the skin.
But, like I said, if there is an upside, you know that there has to be a downside.
First, face lifts don't come cheap. Face lifts cost between ,000 and ,000 (and they can do much, much higher depending on the surgeon). The cost for anesthesia is from ,000 to ,300. The hospital cost is from 0 to ,000, and the rest is the surgeon's fee.
The keyword in the phrase "face-lift surgery" is Surgery. A general anesthetic is used, and there is all the time a risk of problems with anesthetic. One of the risks is that you could die. Then there is the fact that bad "stuff" can all the time happen. A nerve can be severed accidentally, or excess bleeding can occur.
